Abstract

This study resumes existent information about fish communities who's inhabit the Tamiahua Lagoon, Veracruz state, México, since 1973 to 1987. The analysis includes author's records obtained in period 1983 to 1987, in wich were captured 19990 organisms, belonging to 82 species; total species richness registered for this lagoon was 112 species, grouped in 83 genus and 41 families, of these, best represented were Sciaenidae (14 species), Gerreidae (8 secies), Gobiidae (8 species), Carangidae (7 species) y Clupeidae (6 speies); marine species contributed with higher species and organisms numbers, in other hand, freshwater species show minor recors, finally, its suggested some choices for management of these resources.
