Abstract

Concentrations of Cadmium, Chromium, Nickel, Lead and Vanadium in sediments (total and bioavailable) and clams (Lampsilis tampicoensis, Potamilus alata, Pyganodon grandis, Polymesoda arctata y Rangia cuneata) were determined by the method of Rantala and Loring (1975; IAEA, 1984) in four lakes and six rivers of the Marshes of Centla Biosphere (RBPC) Tabasco. Metals that exceeded the maximum permissible limits (as Long et al., 1995) in sediments were: Cd total (1.28 ± 0.77 µg g-1 ), Ni total (107.51 ± 23.02 µg g-1 ), Pb total (44.50 ± 18.97 µg g-1 ) and V total (48.98 ± 6.88 µg g-1 ); in clams (as Nauen 1983): Cd (0.28 ± 0.13 µg g-1 ), Cr (4.27 ± 2.29 µg g-1 ), Ni (2.83 ± 2.33 µg g-1 ), (2.29 ± 1.10 µg g-1 ) and V (1.85 ± 1.15 µg g-1 ).
