Abstract

The coexistence of planktonic species in a higher number than expected in relation of resource amount was stated as "paradox" by Hutchinson in contrary to competitive exclusion principle, or its modern statement, the theory of niche. Insight theoretical and experimental new advances in community ecology, paradox problem doesn't have resolved yet even the contrary was thought. An historical and commented revision of the problem, is presented.
